Unlocking Inner Beauty: Insights from Dr. Omar Suleiman's Ramadan Series
Dr. Omar Suleiman's enlightening Ramadan series, titled "Why Me?" focuses on Understanding Qadar, delving into crucial and timely themes, particularly relevant for today's Muslims.
This week, we're excited to bring you insights from Episode 7 of the series, which addresses the preoccupation many of us have with outward appearances. This concern is especially prevalent among today's youth, who have inherited the pervasive influence of social media and its emphasis on image.
Dr. Suleiman begins the episode by recounting the story of Zahir (RA), a companion of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who was distressed by his appearance. In response, the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) consoled him, saying, "You are priceless in the sight of Allah" (Musnad Ahmad 12648), highlighting that true beauty lies not in external features, but in the beauty of character. Every aspect of ourselves, both internal and external, is part of Allah's decree and serves a purpose.
As Allah states in Surah Al-Infitar (82:7-8)
Who created you, fashioned you, and perfected your design,
moulding you in whatever form He willed?
This underscores the divine intention behind our physical and spiritual composition.
The obsession with garnering likes and validation on social media reflects a misplaced focus on external appearance rather than inner substance. Dr. Suleiman warns that fixating on outward appearances can lead to distraction, shallow relationships, and diminished self-esteem.
He illustrates this with three archetypes: those who possess outer beauty but lack inner goodness, exemplified by Qarun; those who may not conform to societal beauty standards but radiate inner beauty, akin to Zahir (RA); and finally, individuals like the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who embody beauty both internally and externally.
The lesson is clear: true beauty is defined by what is pleasing to Allah. Let us strive to cultivate inner virtues that resonate with divine beauty.
Dr. Suleiman shares further insights and reflections in the full episode, which you can explore through the provided link below. May Allah guide us all towards inner beauty and righteousness.
Let’s take you there…
Silk Road Uyghur Restaurant

Silk Road Uyghur Restaurant
This week, we're excited to spotlight a remarkable Halal restaurant that brings a unique culinary experience to Perth. Transporting you along the ancient Silk Road, Silk Road Uyghur Restaurant offers a captivating blend of Middle Eastern and Asian flavors in authentic Uyghur cuisine.
Dedicated to quality and freshness, their menu showcases a delightful array of dishes, including vegetarian options, all meticulously prepared with Halal certification. Immerse yourself in the diverse culinary traditions of the Silk Road as you savor their delicious offerings.
During Ramadan, they feature a special menu that's not to be missed. We highly recommend a visit to this restaurant, but be sure to call ahead as tables fill up fast.
The following is the address:
Forbidden to you are carrion, blood, and swine; what is slaughtered in the name of any other than Allah; what is killed by strangling, beating, a fall, or by being gored to death; what is partly eaten by a predator unless you slaughter it; and what is sacrificed on altars. You are also forbidden to draw lots for decisions.1 This is all evil. Today the disbelievers have given up all hope of ˹undermining˺ your faith. So do not fear them; fear Me! Today I have perfected your faith for you, completed My favour upon you, and chosen Islam as your way. But whoever is compelled by extreme hunger—not intending to sin—then surely Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
