Assalaamualaikum, Welcome to the inaugural issue of Salam Perth newsletter. In Sha Allah, you’d find something useful, heart-warming, and inspirational this week.

In this week’s Salam Perth:

  • The first revelation

  • Alhidaya Centre

  • Inspirations from Surah Al-Kahf.

Let’s go.

— Zinda & Ahmed, Editorial Team

Allah’s first revelation in the Holy Quran.

Over 14 centuries ago, during the sacred month of Ramadan, the Quran was revealed by Allah to His Messenger Muhammad (SAW), while he was in solitude in the cave of Mount Hira. Allah said,

“Read, ˹O Prophet,˺ in the Name of your Lord Who created—

created humans from a clinging clot.

Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous,

Who taught by the pen—

taught humanity what they knew not.”

(Surah Al-`Alaq, 96:1-5)

It's fitting that we launch this newsletter with the first five verses revealed to us in the Holy Quran, highlighting the importance of knowledge and how Islam encourages its pursuit. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) have said that seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim.

In Sha Allah, our aim through this newsletter is to impart Islamic wisdom, offer heartfelt reminders, and guide you toward a closer connection with Allah.

Let’s take you there…

Established in 2008, Alhidayah Centre stands as a vibrant hub for the Northern Suburbs of Perth, catering to the diverse needs of the Muslim community.

Since its inception, the centre has steadily grown, finding its permanent home at 219 Berriman Drive in 2014. Boasting a spacious masjid offering daily congregational prayers, a dedicated madrasah for teaching Quran and various educational programs, a welcoming canteen, and an array of engaging social activities, Alhidayah Centre is a true community cornerstone.

Recognising the need for expansion, the centre acquired additional space across the road in 2018. This expansion will facilitate the inclusion of essential amenities like ample parking, enhanced educational resources, vital funeral services, and a recreational centre.

Alhidayah Centre, with its comprehensive facilities and inclusive programs, continues to evolve to meet the growing demands and aspirations of its community.

Alhamdhulillah, this remarkable growth and success of Alhidayah Centre are owed to the dedicated volunteers and the generous support from the wider community. Their commitment and contributions have been instrumental in nurturing this vibrant space for communal growth and engagement. If you'd like to be part of this incredible journey or contribute to their noble cause through donations, please visit their website (https://alhidayahcentre.org/) for more information on how you can support this cherished community institution.
